Glutathione without doubt is the master antioxidant in the body. there are various endogenous antioxidants in the cells, which are produced by the cells themselves, and there are exogenous antioxidants that you can take by food. However, the most important antioxidant is Glutathione
There are some functions that only Glutathione can do: for example, detoxification in the liver. When Glutathione is spent, without having the time for it to be recycled or resynthesized, then people die. People can drink all the juices in the world, vitamins will not help.
According to Dr Thomas Levy, Glutathione in the cells rules among all other antioxidants. In the cells, Glutathione is the captain of his sports team. All infections and toxins manifest their toxicities by acting as free radicals. The more infections and toxins we have in our environment and our body has to deal with, the more Glutathione is spent and the less Glutathione we have left for energy production. The result is: we get tired and you start to feel aging has started to creep upon you.
The Role of Glutathione in Anti-Aging Medicine – Thomas A. Levy, MD, JD
Factors that decrease Glutathione Levels in the cells:
- Toxins that we ingest or inhale. Think of preservatives in processed food, smoke, drugs, energy drinks, heavy metals, artificial sweeteners
- Ongoing inflammation
- Infections
- Stress, especially when it becomes chronic, regardless whether due to economic, or emotional circumstances or bereavement or other reasons
- Lack of sleep: often people are not aware that they need to sleep 6-8 hours a day – this is the time when the body repairs itself
- Pollution of air and water
- insecticides and pesticides
- Too much sun exposure
- Too heavy physical exercise
Free Radicals:
All of the above lead to overproduction of free radicals inside the cell. A free radical is an atom that has lost an electron and become highly unstable seeking to get an electron from other atoms in the neighborhood to become stable. While this first atom becomes stable, the second atom becomes unstable and seeks an electron from another atom in the neighborhood.
The Oxidative Stress:
This ping-ponging of electrons is what called oxidative stress and is the underlying cause of ongoing inflammation in the cell. While the formation of free radicals in the cells during biological processes is natural, however, particularly when we are assaulted by excessive generation of free radicals due to environmental and life style factors, so that we do not have enough of the antioxidants in the cells to cope with the amount of the free radicals generated in the cells, then free radicals may damage cell structures.
The AntiOxidants:
That’s why it is important to have antioxidants in abundance inside the cell, so that these antioxidants give electrons to free radicals as soon as the free radicals happen to be, before they manage to initiate and perpetuate inflammation, or damage any cell structures. There are a wide variety of antioxidants inside the cells. However, scientists agree, that the King of the antioxidants inside the cell is Glutathione for some reasons that I will explain below
The Vitamins:
are present in low concentrations inside the cells. They are in higher concentration outside the cells. They and all other antioxidants act as antioxidants by donating electrons to free radicals, and doing so, they themselves become free radicals seeking electrons to get themselves neutralized. The only antioxidant known to scientists today that donates electrons without itself becoming a free radical is Glutathione. Glutathione that is present in very high concentrations in the cell, is in fact needed to neutralize and recycle the vitamins and all other antioxidants inside the cells. As scientists say: inside the cells, Glutathione rules.
The Vicious Circle:
When we live in a healthy environment, breathe fresh air, eat nutritionally adequate food, drink unpolluted water, sleep well 6-8 hours per day, do moderate exercise, have stress free circumstances, avoid such activities that increase the free radical load inside the cells, then the antioxidant status given to us by nature is adequate. However, when we are stressed, lack sleep, eat nutritionally inadequate food, drink polluted water, breathe polluted air, do not exercise or exercise excessively, excessive exposure to toxins, then the antioxidants become depleted, ongoing inflammation is set into motion and perpetuated and Glutathione is drawn excessively into antioxidation at the cost of energy production. Ultimately, Glutathione levels also go down in the cells with reduced capacity to combat inflammation and the vicious circle goes on and on. Luckily, we have now what is called “Glutathione Accelerators”

A True Story
Thanks to Shirley and Dr Robert Keller, (modified)
Shirley was 68 yrs old when she had trouble with her joints. For the last three months, she had joint pain; she could not walk upstairs or uphill. When she sat and wanted to stand up, she had severe pain. She was not a good company either. In fact, she was not happy for the last 10 years. When Glutathione Supplements were introduced to her, she was skeptical; however she tried them.
Already in the first week she started to go about the house humming. Then she went up stairs without having to stop half way to rest. Then she could walk up the hill. She felt so good, that she states “she would recommend the Glutathione supplements to anybody at any age. She is now 68yrs going on 40-45yrs, instead of being 68yrs going onto 80yrs”
Thank You Shirley For Sharing
Please note, Glutathione Accelerators are not meant to be a cure; they are natural supplements that provide each cell in your body with optimal healt
